ENIAC
for quite a long time was considered the first electronic "computer".
Abbreviation exactly stands for "Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer".
It was constructed in the years 1943-1945 by JP Eckert'a, and J. W. Mauchly
at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
ENIAC weighed more than 27 tons, contained nearly 18 thousand vacuum tubes
and occupied an area of approx. 140 square meters.
It had no memory and was initially programmed
by switching cable plugs, later using punch cards.
